Sáwol started as a one man project in 2005. Pekka was composing slow, atmospheric music. A demo was recorded in September 2007 with Jussi on drums and Pekka doing all other instruments and vocals. Although the demo received a positive response, Pekka and Jussi were too busy with their other projects to take Sáwol further at that time.
The Band line-up was finally completed in the summer of 2008 with Pekka's brother Matti on bass and good friend Miika on guitar. Their first live show took place in March 2009.
Sáwol entered the studio in May 2009 to work on their first full-length album "Through Soil and Skin" to be released by Bullroser Records in JApril 2010.
